Back to School Bash

BacktoSchoolBash1920x485FUMC Allen hosts the community BACK TO SCHOOL BASH on August 16 from 9:00am-12:00pm. The event serves the clients of Allen Community Outreach and their school-aged children as they prepare to go back to school this month.

We still need VOLUNTEERS to help at Saturday’s event. We need volunteers to help on Friday with event set up, with shifts available from 7:00am-10am, 10am-12pm, and 3pm-5pm. On Saturday, we need volunteers to fill a wide variety of roles during two shifts: 8:30am-11:15am and 11:15am-2:00pm. Jobs include station helpers for the bike rodeo, car seat installations, haircuts, finger printing, hygiene bag distribution, and prayer concerns collections; valets to carry supplies to client cars; providing information at the welcome desk; greeting guests at the entrances; and helpers in the back pack/school supply distribution in the gym.

The love shared and lives impacted by your time and generosity represent a true gift from God.

Last year’s Back to School Bash served approximately 157 Allen families in need, representing 368 bags of school supplies, 334 pairs of new shoes, 72 car seats, 72 bike helmets, 25 physicals, 50 blood pressure readings (resulting in 16 referrals), 100 children more aware of stranger danger, 290 elementary school backpacks, and 200 middle and high school backpacks.
