We’re calling on everyone to accept our Change the World Holiday
Challenge, which began on Saturday, November 7.
On Sunday, November 8, the north end of our gym was full of volunteers assembling and packaging Christmas stockings for our soldiers. On November 9, the Military Support Group shipped to 10 locations 14 boxes filled with 209 stockings. Total weight was 500.9 pounds, which cost $823.99 for postage. Many thanks to everyone who donated items and cash to make this another successful year for STOCKINGS FOR SOLDIERS.
On the south end, we had 73 volunteers working a total of 175 hours in assembly line fashion to package 23,760 nutritional meals for KIDS AGAINST HUNGER. Those meals will be loaded on a container on Saturday and shipped to the House of Hope in Honduras.
SEND HOPE: Nov 22-Dec 20

SHARE A BEAR, BEAR A CARE: Nov 29-Dec 20
During the Advent season, help children in crisis by leaving a new 6″-18″ stuffed non-musical teddy bear in the pew. Bears will be distributed after the Christmas holidays. Contact Sue Crawford-Stauffer, 214.577.5584.
HOME IMPROVEMENT: Nov 7
A few Change the World Allen projects need to be completed on Saturday, November 7. Specifically, we need 3-4 volunteers to paint exterior and 2-3 volunteers to replace siding. Contact Margo Bayless, 214.207.4567.
MILITARY SUPPORT GROUP: Oct 18-Nov 8
Volunteers collected items for our annual Stockings for Soldiers campaign and on Sunday, November 8, they were assembled and packaged in the FUMC Allen gym. For more information, contact project coordinators Betty Matthews and Debbie Wilson.
KIDS AGAINST HUNGER: Nov 8
On Sunday, November 8, FUMC Allen hosts packaging event in the gym from 12:00pm-3:00pm for Kids Against Hunger. Volunteers assemble packages of highly nutritious vitamin-fortified meals that will be sent to children in Honduras. We need volunteers of all ages to help package food in the gym. Or you can make donation to help feed the hungry. For example, a $10 donation feeds 40 children while $50 buys a box of food. For more information, contact Sharon Brian.
ACO HOLIDAY FOOD DRIVE: Oct 15-Nov 21
During the holiday months, the need for emergency assistance to families tends to increase. Community support through donations and volunteer time that we make possible 1,000 Holiday bags of groceries to fight hunger during Thanksgiving and Christmas.Learn more about the Holiday Food Drive if you can help collect food or want to donate food. ACO also needs volunteers are needed to sort and box the food for families on November 19-21. MEALS ON WHEELS: Nov 8-Nov 26
On Thanksgiving Day, volunteers will gather at FUMC Allen to prepare and package meals for Collin County Meals on Wheels. Sign up on Sunday, November 8, 15, 0r 22 to bring food for the event or volunteer to work one or more of three available shifts. For more information, contact Teresa Gray.
ACO HOLIDAY ADOPTION PROGRAM: Nov 15-Dec 8
Each year, ACO asks the community to donate new, unwrapped toys, OR to “adopt” a child, teen, or senior for Christmas. Those who adopt are provided the person’s wish list with clothing sizes and much-needed items. As the donor, you are asked to make someone’s holiday a little happier by purchasing new clothes and needs AND maybe a special item from their wish list. Can you help?
