June Worship Series: Paul’s Letter to the Philippians

Not that I have already obtained this or have already reached the goal; but I press on to make it my own,
because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Philippians 3:12 NRSV

On Sunday, June 4, Rev. Todd Harris begins a four-week series, Toward the Goal, based on Paul’s letter to the church he planted in Philippi. In this series, we’ll read the entire four chapter, 104-verse letter, written by the apostle from his Philippian jail cell. We’ll hear him encourage these new Christians to work together, love one another, and remain humble as they press toward the goal of receiving God’s call to trust in Him and share the story of Jesus.

On Sunday, June 11, we’ll welcome as our special guest, the Rev. Dr. Alyce McKenzie, who will bring the message, “Grounded: The Gift of Humility.”

Accompanying this series is a four-week Bible study meeting every Sunday in June at 11:00am in the parlor. This hour will allow participants to discuss more in depth Paul’s letter and explore how Paul was encouraging the Philippians (and continues to encourage us) to make the commitment to live as God has called us through His son, Jesus Christ.
