Dear FUMC Allen Church Family,
On behalf the Missions Team, the Change the World Steering Committee, Pastor Todd, and myself, I’d like to express our deepest gratitude to all our volunteers and partners for Change the World Allen 2016. Thanks to you, lives were touched and changed, families all over Allen encountered grace and compassion and the church truly “left the building.” I don’t have the scope and breadth yet of all the projects completed to share details with you yet but please know your passion for service and compassion for your neighbors truly made a difference in our world.
In Matthew 5, Jesus said, “13 Let me tell you why you are here. You’re here to be salt-seasoning that brings out the God-flavors of this earth. If you lose your saltiness, how will people taste godliness? You’ve lost your usefulness and will end up in the garbage. 14 “Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. 15 If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. 16 Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.” (The Message translation).
FUMC Allen shared God’s light with our neighbors and my prayer and hope for us is that we found joy in the offering, passion in the serving and assurance of God’s love as we showed love to our neighbors. Keep shining!
It is a joy to be among you and to serve with you.
