What to Expect

We know that coming to a new place creates a lot of questions. We hope we can answer a few of them for you here.

What is the atmosphere like at FUMC Allen?
Overall, the atmosphere at our church is fairly casual. We meet at 601 S Greenville Ave in Allen, Texas, for worship in the sanctuary at 8:15am, 9:30am, and 11:00am every Sunday. We have several entrances to the church, and our visitors typically park along the south and west sides of the church on Sundays. Greeters are on hand each week to welcome you and answer any of your questions. Our main information/welcome table is set up in the the labyrinth area, which is located in the approximate center of the church building. We offer free coffee and donuts to our guests. If you’d like to make a donation to Send Hope, one of the missions support by the church, just drop some change in the donation box.

What are the people like at FUMC Allen?
The people of FUMC Allen are a friendly group who genuinely welcome all who attend. They are people just like you who share many of the same struggles and concerns of daily life. Our members are supportive without being intrusive or judgmental.

We invite you to take a look at the United Methodist Handbook, published by United Methodist Communications, to provide an overview of our denomination. We also invite you to call on one of our pastors, who will be happy to meet with you and discuss your specific questions. We regularly offer a Methodism/Membership class on Sunday mornings to provide an overview of membership at FUMC Allen. To learn more about this class, contact Rev. Maxie Moore.

What does FUMC Allen offer for my children?
Children and youth are encouraged to attend worship services. Sunday worship occasionally includes a special children’s time that takes the pastor’s sermon and presents it at a level that meets a child’s understanding.  We offer Sunday school at the 9:30am and 11:00am hours where children learn more about the Bible and their faith. Nursery is open throughout the morning for children ages two and younger.  Youth Sunday school classes meet in the youth wing at 9:30am and 11:00am with classes established for each grade level.

What should I wear to FUMC Allen?
Anything you like. We’re more concerned with meeting your real life needs than what you wear. Dress usually ranges from blue jeans and T-shirts to casual business attire. All are welcome!
