Join us in worship on Sunday, December 11, when our Carillon Handbells and friends proudly presents the world première of two new handbell arrangements of Mannheim Steamroller’s Christmas favorites, “Joy to the World” and “Angels We Have Heard on High,” by Michael Glasgow, a celebrated conductor, composer, handbell enthusiast extraordinaire, and Minister of Music at North Raleigh UMC in North Carolina. His works have been performed 41 different handbell organizations around the world, including Cast of Bronze (Dallas), The Concert Bells of Ft. Worth, Houston Bronze, the Texas Choral Directors Association, the East Texas Handbell Ensemble, and many more.

The performance on December 11 features our Carillon Bells along with drums, keyboard, horns, strings, and woodwinds. A repeat performance is set for Christmas Eve, December 24, at 10:30pm during our Christmas Vigil Prelude in the FUMC Allen sanctuary.

Michael Glasgow is no stranger to our Carillon Bells who performed his arrangement of Katy Perry’s “Firework” earlier this year. A private donation allowed us the honor of the commissioning of these two pieces which allows the bells exclusive performance rights to these arrangements for one year.
