Great Themes of the Bible     FREE     Wed     6:30pm     Start Date: Sept 7     Ongoing     CLC203(Library)     Rev. Brian McPherson

There are 39 great, identifiable themes in the bible, but we don’t know the number of authors of holy scripture, nor do we know the precise history of all these writings.  What we do know is the Holy Scripture is the chief source of revelation of who God is and what his plans for us are as evidenced in the mystery of Jesus Christ.  Join us as we begin to explore these great themes of scripture on Wednesday nights this fall beginning at 6:30pm.  No book required, just a Bible.

Interrupted by Jen Hatmaker** $15     Mon     9:15am     Start Date: Sept 12     5 Weeks     CLC 206     Susan Hale

The American Dream and Christianity Aren’t the Same Thing! God is in the business of interrupting what we think our lives are about. Jen Hatmaker argues that we have missed the point, confusing Christianity with the American Dream and manipulating Scripture to say what we want it to say. Interrupted is about freedom from consumer-driven Christianity and getting back to the true faith, real life, real justice, real religion. (5 sessions)

A spiritual director is someone who provides listening presence, nurture, accountability, and companionship as you process and give voice to your spiritual experiences in a safe and sacred space.  A spiritual director will help you: develop and strengthen spiritual practices, interpret your life through the lens of the gospel, and deepen your understanding of the Christian faith as you journey closer to God.  In the tradition of John Wesley and the early Methodist societies, spiritual direction (in small groups or one-on-one) is “watching over one another in love.”
